CHECKING PEDAL FREE PLAY
Turn off the engine and depress the brake
pedal several times to deplete the vacuum
' in the power brake unit. Gently depress
the brake pedal by hand and measure the
distance it moves until slight resistance is
felt. If the free play is more or less than
specified, have the brakes adjusted by an
authorized Kia Dealer.
Pedal free play :
4~7mm (0.16~0.28 in)

CHECKING PEDAL CLEARANCE
Start the engine and check the brake
pedal for smooth operation and proper
clearance when it is fully depressed
approximately 60kg (132Ib, 589N)). The
clearance is measured between the cen-
ter of the upper surface of the brake pedal
pad and the floor board without the carpet.
If it is less than about 61 mm (2.4in), have
the brakes adjusted by an authorized Kia
Dealer.
Clearance: about 61mm (2.41n) min
Checking Parking Brake
Check the stroke of the parking brake by
counting the number of clicks heard while
fully applying it from the released position.
Also, the parking brake alone should
securely hold the vehicle on a fairly steep
grade. If the number of clicks is more or
less than specified, have the parking
brake adjusted by an authorized Kia
Dealer.

6~8 clicks at a force of 10 kg (22 lb,
98N)
