Checking Power Brakes
Check the power brakes for proper opera-
tion.
e Depress the brake pedal a few times
and then hold it down. Start the engine
and the pedal should drop slightly.
e Depress the brake pedal, stop the
engine, and hold the pedal down for
about 30 seconds. The pedal should
neither drop nor rise.
e Restart the.engine, let it run for about
a minute, and turn it off. Then firmly
depress the brake pedal several times.
The pedal travel should decrease with
each subsequent stroke.
If the brake do not operate properly, have
the brake system checked by an_ autho-
rized Kia Dealer.
Checking Clutch Pedal

CHECKING PEDAL FREE PLAY
Depress the pedal by hand until clutch
resistance is felt; ensure that it is within
specification.
If the free play is more or less than speci-
fied, have the clutch or linkage adjusted
by an authorized Kia Dealer.

9~15mm (0.35~0.59in)

CHECKING PEDAL HEIGHT
Measure the distance from the upper cen-
ter of the pedal pad to the carpet and
ensure that it is within specification.
If the height is more or less than specified,
have it adjusted by an authorized Kia
Dealer.
