Proper
Use
and
Care
of
Seat-
Belt
System
To
gain
maximum
effectiveness
from
the
seat-belt
system,
follow’
these
suggestions:
e
Use
the
belts
at
all
times
--
even
on
short
trips.
e
Never
use
the
same
belt
for
more
than
one
person
ata
time.
e
Avoid
wearing
twisted
belts.
e
Keep
sharp
edges
and
damaging
objects
away
from
the
belts
and
other
parts
of
the
restraint
system.
e
Periodically
inspect
belt
webbing,
anchors,
buckles,
and
all
other
parts
for
signs
of
wear,
damage,
and
weak-
ness.
Damaged
belts
should
be
replaced.
e
To
clean
the
belt
webbing,
use
any
mild
.soap
solution
recommended
for
cleaning
upholstery
or
carpets;
follow
the
instructions
provided
with
the
soap.
Do
not
bleach
or
redye
the
web-
bing
because
this
may
weaken
it.
e
No
modifications
or
additions
should
be
made
by
the
user.
e
After
wearing
a
seat
belt,
make
sure
it
is
not
caught
on
the
adjusting
levers
or
elsewhere.
WARNING!
All
seat-belt
assemblies,
including
retractors
and
attaching
harness,
should
be
inspected
after
any
colli-
sion.
We
recommended
that
all
seat
belt
assemblies
in
use
during
a
collision
be
replaced
unless
the
collision
was
minor
and
the
seat
belts
show
no
damage
and
contin-
ue
to
operate
properly.
Seat-belt
assemblies
not
in
use
during
a
col-
lision
should
also
be
inspected
and
replaced
if
damage
or
improp-
er
operation
is
noted.
