Safety catch
2. Pull the safety catch lever up and lift
the bonnet.
3. Hold the bonnet open with the support
rod.
Secure the support rod in its clip to pre-
vent it from rattling, before closing the
bonnet.
To close the bonnet
Check under the bonnet to make _ cer-
tain all filler caps are in place and that
all loose items have been removed.
Close the bonnet firmly so that it latch-
es securely, Do not slam it shut.
BONNET
WARNING!
Do not release the bonnet latch
unless _ the Ignition is first turned
off, the gear selector lever is
placed in (FIRST), and the park-
ing brake is set fully.
° [fit is necessary to check beneath
the bonnet with engine running,
place the gear selector lever in
NEUTRAL and set the parking
brake fully. Unexpected and pos-
sibly sudden vehicle movement
may occur if these precautions
are not taken.
° To avoid the possibility of person-
al injury, you should always turn
off the ignition and remove the
key before working under the’
bonnet unless the particular pro-
cedure specifically requires other
wise. If the procedure requires
you to run the engine while work-
ing under the bonnet, do not per-
mit any clothing, such as neckties
or handkerchiefs, near the
engine or radiator fan. They can
become entangled in moving
parts and result In personal injury
and damage to the vehicle. Also
remove watches, bracelets and
rings.
