MIDIstandsforMusicalInstrumentDigitalInterface,andisaworldwidestan-
dardforexchangingvarioustypesofmusicaldatabetweenelectronicmusical
instrumentsandcomputers.
WhenMIDIcablesareusedtoconnecttwoormoreMIDIdevices,performance
datacanbeexchangedbetweenthedevices,eveniftheyweremadebydier-
entmanufacturers.
MIDIdatacanalsobeexchangedbetweenthemonologueandyourpersonal
computerusingasingleUSBcable.ThemonologueletsyouassignMIDIcon-
trolchangenumbers(CC#)tothemajorparametersthataectthesound,and
controltheseparametersfromanexternalMIDIsequencerwhileyouplaythe
tonegenerator.Youcanalsousethefrontpanelknobsorbuonstotransmit
thesecontrolchangemessages,inordertocontrolanexternalMIDIdevice.
Youcanalsosynchronizethemonologue’stempototheMIDIclockofanex-
ternalMIDIsequencerorotherdevice,sothatthemonologuewillplayintime
withtheexternaldeviceandwithanychangesyoumake.
