Remove the circlip and then remove the
washers, reverse wheel gear and needle
bearing.
Inspect the gear teeth.
Blue discoloration/pitting/wear → Replace.
Inspect the mated dogs.
Rounded edges/cracks/missing portions
→ Replace.
