7. Troubleshooting
7.1.1 Error reports
Indication E1
If this message follows the software version indication after switching on
the instrument, a loss of all parameters has occurred.
• Pressanykey.
All parameters are then set back to the default values.
• Nowallsettingsmustbecheckedtoseeifthepreviouslyenteredvalues
are still correct.
The values may have to be reentered.
Youcancontinuewithyournormalworkingroutine.
If E-1 appears repeatedly when switching the instrument on, the lithium
battery may need replacement (service life approx. 7 years).
• Proceedasdescribedabove.
• Worknormallyaftercheckingthesettings.
• HavethebatteryreplacedbyLeicaserviceassoonaspossible.
LEDs (40), (41) in the coarse feed buttons are lit at the same time.
This indicates a defect in the detection of the STOP and HOME positions of
the specimen head.
The problem can only be resolved by customer service.

Certain instrument malfunctions appear on the 3-digit LED display or are indicated
through illuminated LED's on the control panel.
