5.5 Clamping the specimen
• Rotatethehandwheeluntilthespecimenclampisintheuppermostposition.
• Activatethehandwheellockbyallowingthehandwheelhandletolockinplaceandthen
activate the brake.
• Insertaspecimenintothespecimenclamp.

• Foldknifeguard(9) downward.
• Toinserttheblade,fliptherightclampinglever
(10) forward and down.
Always clamp the specimen block BEFORE clamping the knife or the blade.
Lock the handwheel and cover the knife edge with the knife guard prior to any manipu-
lation of knife or specimen, prior to changing the specimen block and during all work
breaks!
A detailed description for inserting the specimen into various specimen clamps and
specimen holders is provided in Chapter 6 "Optional accessories".
Take care when handling microtome knives and disposable blades. The cutting edge is
extremely sharp and can cause serious injuries!
