– The CMOS battery must be replaced with another unit of the same type (CR2032).
– For high temperature operation environment, it is recommended to use CR2032HR instead.
– After replacement is completed, it is required to reconfigure the server and reset the system date and
time.
– Dispose of the battery as required by local ordinances or regulations.
Procedure
Step 1. Make preparations for this task.
a. If applicable, unlock or remove any locking device that secures the top cover, such as a
Kensington lock; then, remove the top cover (see “Remove the top cover” on page 158).
b. Locate the CMOS battery slots on the system board and identify the battery to be removed.

• To remove the CMOS battery from Slot 1, first remove the power module board (see
“Remove the power module board” on page 122).
• To remove the CMOS battery from Slot 2, first disconnect the drive cables and remove the
drive cage (see
“Remove the drive cage” on page 80).
Step 2. Remove the CMOS battery from the socket.
a.
Gently press the clip in the direction as shown.
b.
Carefully tilt and lift the CMOS battery out of the socket.
