ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoinstalltheTR500KeyonaThinkServerRAID500Adapterifyour
serverhasaThinkServerRAID500Adapterinstalled.
Attention:BackupyourdatabeforeyoubeginifyouwanttorecongureRAIDandreinstalltheoperating
systemafterinstallingtheTR500Key.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Note:UseanydocumentationthatcomeswiththeTR500Keyandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthistopic.
ToinstalltheTR500Key,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Iftheserverisinstalledinarackcabinet,removetheserverfromtherackcabinetandplaceitonaat,
clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.SeetheRackInstallationInstructionsthatcomeswiththeserver.
3.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage69.
4.Removethecoolingshroud.See“Removingandreinstallingthecoolingshroud”onpage73.
5.LocatetheThinkServerRAID500Adapter,whichisinstalledinthePCIExpresscardslotontheriser
cardassembly2.Then,disconnectanycablesfromtheThinkServerRAID500Adapter.
6.Removetherisercardassembly2andlayitupsidedownonaat,clean,andstatic-protectivesurface.

7.Touchthestatic-protectivepackagethatcontainstheTR500Keytoanyunpaintedsurfaceonthe
outsideoftheserver.Then,taketheTR500Keyoutofthepackage.
