StartingtheThinkServerEasyStartupprogram
ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtostarttheThinkServerEasyStartupprogram.Afteryoustartthe
programandenterthemaininterface,clickUserGuideformoreinformationaboutusingthisprogramto
helpyouconfiguretheserverandinstallanoperatingsystem.
TostarttheThinkServerEasyStartupprogram,dothefollowing:
1.InserttheThinkServerEasyStartupDVDintotheopticaldrive,settheopticaldriveasthefirststartup
device,andstartyourserverfromtheDVDintheopticaldrive.See“Selectingastartupdevice”on
page33
.
2.WaitfortheThinkServerEasyStartupprogramtoload.Then,youarepromptedforthefollowing
selections:
•Thelanguageinwhichyouwanttoviewtheprogram
•Thelanguageofthekeyboardlayoutyouwillbeusingwiththeprogram
Note:ThesupportedlanguagesandkeyboardlayoutsfortheThinkServerEasyStartupprogramare
German,English,Spanish,French,Italian,Dutch,Turkish,andJapanese.YourThinkServerEasyStartup
DVDmightbeEnglishonly.Inthiscase,thekeyboardlayoutshouldbeEnglish.
3.Afterselectingthelanguageandkeyboardlayout,clickOK.Then,youwillseeoneormoremessages
aboutconfiguringstoragedevices.ClickNextwhenyouarepromptedwiththeLenovoLicense
Agreement.ReadtheLenovoLicenseAgreementcarefully.Inordertocontinue,youmustagreethose
termsbyclickingAgree.Then,theDateandtimewindowopens.
4.SetthecurrentdateandtimeandclickOK.TheStartoptionwindowopens.
5.TheStartoptionwindowprovidesthefollowingselections:
•Continuetothemaininterface.
•Installtheoperatingsystemusingapre-existingresponsefile.
•ConfigureRAIDusingapre-existingresponsefile.
Readtheexplanationsonthescreenandselectadesiredoption.Then,followtheinstructionsonthe
screen.IfthisisthefirsttimeyouareusingtheThinkServerEasyStartupprogram,selecttheoptionto
continuetothemaininterfaceandviewthecompatibilitynotesanduserguide.
