• Read “Installation Guidelines” on page 41 and “Safety inspection checklist” on page 42 to make sure that
you work safely.
• Touch the static-protective package that contains the component to any unpainted metal surface on the
node and chassis; then, take the component out of the package and place it on a static-protective
surface.
Procedure
Step 1. If the PCIe riser card is not installed in the riser cage, install it now.
a. Align the screw holes of the PCIe riser card with the corresponding holes on the riser cage;
then, insert the PCIe riser card into place.
b. Tighten the screws to secure the PCIe riser card to the PCIe riser cage.

Step 2. If a PCIe filler is installed in the slot, remove it.
Step 3. Install the PCIe adapter to the PCIe slot.

Align the adapter with the PCIe connector; then, carefully press the adapter straight into the
connector until it is securely seated.
b.
Tighten the screw to secure the adapter.
