Step 2. Record the cable connections on the backplane and then disconnect all cables from the
backplane. For information about the backplane cable routing, see “Backplane” on page 32.
If you are instructed to return the old backplane, follow all packaging instructions and use any packaging
materials that are provided.
Install the 2.5-inch-drive backplane
Use this information to install the 2.5-inch-drive backplane.
Note:
Your server supports two types of 2.5-inch-drive backplanes: 8-bay backplane (eight SAS/SATA drive bays)
and AnyBay backplane (four SAS/SATA drive bays and four NVMe drive bays). Depending on the backplane
type and quantity, the installation location of the backplanes varies.
• One backplane
Always install either the 8-bay backplane or the AnyBay backplane to drive bays 0–7.
