Disconnecting
an RSA
Refer to Figure 5-1 when disconnecting an RSA from an
operating plant. Please read Section 4, Safety, before proceeding.
1. Remove all rectifiers from the RSA as described above.
2. To disconnect ac wiring from the RSA, proceed as follows:
a. At the plant ac distribution panel, open the circuit
breakers or remove the fuses that supply the RSA with
Note
Due to energy storage in the rectifier, the front panel LEDs
will remain lit for approximately one minute after removal of
ac voltage. No hazardous voltages exist on the rectifier
terminals during this time.
Danger
Turn power off at branch protector. (Lock and tag out per
procedures.)
Danger
Use insulated tools when working on electrically energized
parts.
Danger
AC voltages in excess of 150V to ground and dc voltages of
48V are present in the RSA. Follow the procedures in the
order they are listed to minimize possible encounters with
these voltages.
Danger
Before contacting any uninsulated conductor surfaces, always
use a voltmeter to insure that no voltage is present.
Warning
Remember, follow the steps in sequence.
