5.7 Earth resistance (ET4500 only)
Earth resistance is one of the most important parameters for protection against electric
shock. Mains earthing arrangements, lightning systems, local earthing, etc can be
verified with the earth resistance test. The measurements conforms to BS EN 61557-5.
The Earth resistance function uses a 3-wire earth resistance test method for standard
earth resistance tests with two earthing rods.
Earth resistance measurements must only be performed on de-energized
circuits.

Earth resistance measurement procedure
Select EARTH function using the function selector switch.
Enable and set limit value (optional).
Connect the test leads to the instrument.
Connect the E test lead to the earth to be tested and the H and S test leads to
the earth spikes (see Figure 5.35 and Figure 5.36).
Press the TEST key to perform the measurement.
Store the result, if required, by pressing the MEM key.
