Digest Authentication
Sometimes it is required to receive the incoming SIP calls by the users (such as the users at 'corporate offices'),
only from the specific callers. Other callers should not be allowed to make call to these users.
To achieve this, feature 'Digest Authentication' is supported in ATA211.
This feature can also be used as security feature for ATA211 while receiving important calls though IP network.
To enable the 'Digest Authentication', select the option 'digest' for parameter; 'Authentication Type' for the SIP
account in the web page 'SIP Accounts'. Refer chapter “SIP Accounts”. Configuration of other parameters is
explained in this chapter.
The incoming calls will be allowed to specific callers only if the caller has proved his authentication.
The authentication can be proved with following credentials for the callers:
•User ID
• User Password
If the 'User ID' and 'User Password' sent by the IP device of the caller, are same as the corresponding parameters
programmed in the 'Digest Authentication Table' of your ATA211, then only the incoming call from that caller will be
processed further. Else the incoming call will be rejected.
Your ATA can receive incoming call with any invalid parameters, only for 3 times. After 3 attempts, the ATA will
reject that call.
How to configure ATA211 for 'Digest Authentication'?
• Enable the 'Digest Authentication' feature on SIP Account by configuring the page 'SIP Accounts' in your
ATA211, by selecting the option 'digest' for the parameter; 'Authentication Type'.
• In the web page 'Digest Authentication', program the parameters; 'User ID' and 'User Password' of the IP
device from which incoming call is to be allowed.
