Backrest angle
Loosen the hand knob (B) and pull the red safety plunger (A) to free the
backrest. Whilst pulling the plunger, angle the backrest to the desired angle.
Release the plunger and secure the hand knob (B).
To place the backrest in the 90° upright position release the hand knob and pull
the red plunger.
Raise the backrest to 90° to the seat and release red plunger (A) and secure the
hand knob (B).
Transportation
When using the Shuttle Discovery for transportation in motor vehicles it is vital
that the Discovery Seat backrest is secured in an upright position.
To lock the backrest
Position the backrest 90 degrees to the seat. The red safety plunger (A) should
self-lock in this position. Check the plunger is engaged and then tighten the
hand knob (B).
WARNING
Failure to lock the backrest in an upright position will allow
the backrest to move and in the event of an accident may
cause severe injury or death to user or to other persons.
WARNINGS
1. Ensure the safety red plunger (A) is always engaged
when the backrest is at a 90°, upright position.
2. Always hold the backrest securely at all times when
adjusting the backrest angle.
3. Always check the hand knob (B) is tight before
transferring the user into the Discovery Seat.
4. Only loosen the hand knob by a few turns and never
apply excessive force to undo the hand knob as this
may cause the hand knob to jam.
