1.2 Safety instructions
1. Read / Follow / Retain all instructions
▪
All safety and operating instructions must be read
before using EGIL.
▪ All safety and operating instructions for EGIL must
be followed.
▪ All safety and operating instructions must be
retained for future reference.
2. Connecting
▪
Before connecting or disconnecting EGIL to a high
voltage circuit breaker’s contacts, make sure the
circuit breaker is closed and connected to ground on
both sides.
▪ Always make certain that the DC system in the
substation is disconnected before connecting EGIL.
▪ Always ground EGIL.
▪ Before connecting EGIL, turn off its master ON/OFF
switch.
▪ Use caution when working near bare conductors
or bus bars. Accidental contact with a conductor
may cause electrical shock. At dry locations use
caution when working with voltages that exceed
33 V AC and 46 V peak or 70 V DC, such signals
pose a shock hazard. At wet locations, use caution
when working with voltages that exceed 16 V AC
and 22V peak or 35 V DC. Follow the local safety
regulations.
▪ Never do any work on a circuit breaker unless
the control circuits of the circuit breaker are
disconnected from the EGIL control module or
remote operation.
▪ Unplug EGIL from the mains supply when it is left
unattended or not in use.
