5.3 Appendix C: Adjusting Output Voltage
On the FRAX-101 and 150 the output voltage level may be adjusted from the standard/default
10 Volts up to 12 and down to 0.1 Volt, by changing a file in the FRAX directory.
The file name is named "connectioncommands.txt" and it is in the directory you installed
the FRAX software to, usually C:\Program Files\Megger\FRAX
To use the file to adjust the output voltage add the command gen:gainx=k to the file.
K is a factor for setting the output voltage. K=1 means output voltage is FRAX standard/
default = 10 V output. By changing k, the voltage can be adjusted.
Examples:
k = 0.2828 means output voltage = 0.2828*10V = 2.828 Vpeak = 2 V RMS (used by
FRAnalyzer, Omicron)
k = 0.05 means output voltage = 0.05*10V = 0.5 V (= HP 4195A output voltage)
Open/edit the file with Notepad. K must be a number between 1.2 and 0.01, use decimal
POINT. Save the changes. After changing k you need to disconnect/connect to FRAX to
activate the new setting.
NOTE: If y ou run Vista you m ay experience that you do not have the rights to change/sav e
the file. If so, right-click on the file, properties, select security and edit the user right. Another
possibility is to run Notepad as adm inistrator and open the file from Notepad (not double-
click in the FRAX folder).
NOTE: Don't forget to change back to original k = 1 after the m easurem ent session!
