vi. Your device must be able to communicate via Bluetooth 5 or
higher for the best range. If you are using an older device
with Bluetooth 4 LE (BLE), you may need to be within 30 cm
(1 ft) of the node.
vii. Attempt to search for the node using a different Bluetooth 5
device. Download the mobile app from it and log into the
same account.
viii. Open the node’s core to verify that the battery harness is
plugged into the node’s PCB. Verify that each battery is
connected to the harness as well.
ix. Unplug the battery harness from the PCB to manually
power cycle it. Replug it into the PCB to reboot the node - if
there is a yellow XT-90 connector on the battery harness, you
may unplug and replug that instead.
Issue 2: Turning on the node through the mobile app does not
turn the node’s LEDs on.
i. Verify that you are attempting to access the correct node via
its MAC address located on the label of the node’s outer
case. Once complete, turn the node on through the mobile
app and make sure that the switch stays in the “on” position
for longer than 10 seconds.
ii. Ensure that the node has at least 20% of battery remaining.
If not, charge the node until it reaches at least 30% to verify
that it can be turned on.
iii. The batteries may be in a failure state due to its protection
circuitry. Charge the node for at least 1 hour to attempt to
override this state; ideally, use the solar panel to charge it,
but a USB-C charger (60W or higher) can also be used so
long that the node is verified to be charging.
iv. The Bluetooth firmware may need to be updated - refer to
section 11.b - Mobile App Diagnostics .
v. Open the node’s core to verify that the battery harness is
plugged into the node’s PCB. Verify that each battery is
connected to the harness as well.
