6. Installing the Mount
a. Installation factors
i. Node function and distance
1. Nodes intended to serve as an internet access point in
Gateway Mode must be placed near an ethernet source
for direct wiring.
2. Nodes in Repeater Mode should be placed within WiFi
range of at least 1 other node in Gateway Mode or
repeating a gateway’s signal. The base-model S618 has a
range of up to 300 m (1000 ft) line-of-sight - please note
that this range is under perfect conditions and can be
affected by weather and other interference. A standard
separation distance for planning and estimation purposes
is 100 m (300 ft).
3. External N-type antennas may be connected to an
extended range configured node. The optional antennas
included may achieve a range of approximately 500 m
(1600 ft) line-of-sight. Results may be even better
depending on the antenna being utilized.
ii. Line-of-sight
1. It is critical that nodes within a mesh network maintain an
unobstructed line-of-sight view of each other.
