5.3 Handpiece Assembly
5.3.1 General
Prior to assembling the handpiece, have the following items:
1. Handpiece to be assembled
2. Handpiece tip housing assembly
3. Procedure Tray containing disposable titanium tip
4. Tubing Set
5. Single-Use Monopolar Handpiece Cable pack (if needed)
6. Torque wrench and counter wrench
5.3.2 Procedure Trays
The Procedure Trays with aspiration or bone sculpting tips are listed in Table 5-2.
Procedure Trays contain the following items:
Disposable titanium tip (probe)
Wire Stylet
Large O-ring for retaining the irrigation tubing
The following items may be included in some packs:
o Small O-ring for CE handpiece
o Silicone elbow or joint
o Irrigation port for front housing (Short Straight handpiece only)
o Silicone sleeve/tip or Rigid sleeve
There are a variety of ultrasonic tips available for the SonaStar System. Please ask your Misonix
representative for the latest catalog of available tips. Ultrasonic tips are supplied sterile and for single
use only.
