9. Pull taut the large diameter portion of the silicone irrigation tubing (with yellow stripe) that
attaches to the IV line. Route clockwise around the irrigation pump head (see Figure 6-2),
following the direction indicated with the IV spike at the top. While keeping the tubing taut,
shut the gate of the pump. The flow of solution will be clockwise around the pump head.

10. Remove the protective cap from the IV spike and spike the IV bag to attach the
administration set to the IV bag and flush the IV tubing, taking care to maintain sterility. Open
the roller clamp all the way.
11. Position wireless footswitch as desired by surgeon. The footswitch may be placed in a clear
plastic bag to keep clean.
