solution until all the solution has been aspirated. This process removes residual blood and tissue
fragments from inside the tip and handpiece. This step is unnecessary if bone shaving was
performed.
2. Turn off the unit by pressing the power OFF switch. Remove the handpiece from the sterile field.
Disconnect the Remote IR receiver.
3. Disconnect the irrigation and aspiration tube and discard per hospital’s Biohazard Protocol.
Tips: - Do not dispose of the silicone gray elbow on the CE model.
- DO dispose of the front clear silicone sleeve from the procedural packs.
- Do not dispose of the reusable rigid plastic housings.
- DO dispose of rigid plastic housings included in disposable packs, such as MXA-D232.
4. If used, disconnect and discard the Single-Use Monopolar Handpiece Cable as per Hospital’s
Biohazard Protocol.
Perform the handpiece cleaning procedure as described in Chapter 8.
5. Clean the footswitch and the remote IR receiver. The footswitch can be stored on the lower part of
the unit, the remote IR receiver in the system drawer.
6. Disconnect the suction canister from the vacuum hose. Replace the caps over the open "patient"
and "vacuum" ports on the suction canister. Discard the suction canister as per Hospital’s Biohazard
Protocol.
7. Wipe the unit as detailed in Section 8.2.2. Remove the IV pole by lifting straight up. Store it in the
drawer for future use.
8. Being careful not to strain the power cord at the plug, coil it around the brackets on the rear of the
unit
