ENGINE MAIN PARTS
4. Removing connecting rod caps
1) Put a mark on each cap so it can be installed
in the same position from which it was
removed.
2) Remove the caps and the lower halves of the
connecting rod bearings.
3) Put a mark on each connecting rod bearing
(lower half) so it can be installed in the same
position from which it was removed.
5. Removing carbon from cylinders
Use a cloth or sandpaper to remove all carbon
deposits from the upper areas of the cylinder liner.
If any carbon deposits are present, this will make it
difficult to pull a piston upward.
6. Removing piston and connecting rod
1) Turn the crankshaft to bring the piston to the
top dead center.
2) Push the piston and connecting rod away from
the crankshaft with the handle of a hammer
until the piston rings are above the cylinder.
Then remove the piston and connecting rod
from the crankcase.

NOTE
Be careful not to cause damage to the bearings.
Arrange the removed bearings in a proper order so
that they can be reinstalled in their original positions
during reassembly.
