Fiber Digital Diagnostics Monitoring (SFP DDM and Fiber
Check)
Optical fiber is commonly used for long distance data transmission. However, when link issues occur, it is
very costly to troubleshoot f iber cables and f iber transceivers at remote sites. To solve this problem, Moxa
industrial Ethernet switches provide digital diagnostics and monitoring (DDM) f unctions on Moxa SFP’s
and/or f ixed type (multi-mode SC/ST and single-mode SC connectors) optical f iber links and allow users to
measure optical parameters and its performance from a central site. This function can greatly facilitate the
troubleshooting process f or optical f iber links and reduce costs f or onsite debugging. Two different
categories of Moxa switches support Fiber Digital Diagnostics Monitoring f unctions: SFP DDM and Fiber
Check.
