4. Remove the two remaining screws (indicated by the
arrows in
Figure 4.16.) that secure the ring gear
retaining bracket to the blower housing using a 3/8”
wrench.
5. Lift the ring gear retaining bracket off of the snow
thrower.
6. Remove the double idler gear and the spacer ring.
To install and time the gears:
1. Coat both sets of gear teeth on the double idler gear
with white lithium grease.
2. Insert a 1/4” pin punch or dowel rod through the
alignment hole in the double idler gear.
See Figure 4.17.
3. Install the double idler gear so that the pin punch is
inserted into the alignment hole of the blower hous
-
ing.
NOTE: Leave the pin punch in place.
NOTE: The flat washer goes against the double idler gear,
then the wave washer.

4. Apply white lithium grease to the top side of ring gear
in four places.
See Figure 4.18.
5. Insert the ring gear into the ring gear retaining
bracket.
