12. Remove the pin punch from the double idler gear.
13. Install the pinion gear into its mounting bracket.
14. Insert the pin punch through the alignment hole in the
mounting bracket and the pinion gear.
See Figure 4.22.
15. Install the pinion gear and bracket so that the pin
punch passes through the hole in the double idler
gear into the hole in the blower housing.

4.23.
16. Install the two screws that secure the brackets to the
blower housing and tighten them to a torque of 15 -
25 in lbs (1.7 - 2.8 Nm).
17. Remove both pin punches.
18. Install the spacer ring (if equipped). See Figure 4.24.
19. Install the control rod.
20. Install the engine covers and the upper discharge
chute by following the procedures described in Chap
-
ter 2: Engines.
21. Test run the snow thrower in a safe area before
returning it to service.
