• Before cranking the engine with starter system, make sure that there are no persons in the engine's
danger zone.

Fuels are combustible and explosive.
Risk of fire and explosion!
• Avoid open flames, electrical sparks and ignition sources.
• Do not smoke.
• Wear protective clothing, protective gloves, and safety glasses / facial protection.
Preparatory steps
1. Close fuel supply line upstream of fuel filter.
2. Remove engine control system (→ Page 149).
3. Drain fuel (→ Page 87).
4. Remove charge-air pipes and all seals.
