Option Description
[Shutter/
AF-ON]
The camera focuses when the shutter-release button is
pressed halfway.
[AF-ON
only]
The camera does not focus when the shutter-release
button is pressed halfway.
Option Description
[Enable]
Photos can be taken whenever the shutter-release button is
pressed (release priority).
[Disable]
Pictures can only be taken when the camera is able to
focus; note that this only applies if:
-[Focus] is selected for Custom Setting a1 [AF-C priority
selection] and an option other than [Auto-area AF] is
selected for AF-area mode, or
-[Focus] is selected for Custom Setting a2 [AF-S priority
selection] and an option other than [Auto-area AF] is
selected for AF-area mode.
Focus using the AF-ON button or other controls to which
AF-ON has been assigned.
