Why is the view-field invisible on my Nikon Microscope?

Several factors could cause an invisible, vignetted, or unevenly bright view-field on your Nikon Microscope. First, make sure the lamp is correctly installed and lit by verifying the cable connection and power. Ensure the optical path changeover lever is set to direct 100% light through the binocular eyepiece. Check that any filters or sliders are in their click-stop positions and that the field diaphragm isn't stopped down too far. Also, confirm the revolving nosepiece is correctly installed and in the click-stop position with an objective in the optical path. Remove any sample holder from the optical path. Ensure the BD field changeover lever is in the click-stop position and the intermediate magnification is correctly switched. If using a fluorescent unit, ensure it's correctly attached...
