Start-upProcedures
Donotperformthesestepsuntilallofthechecksinthe
previousstepshavebeencompleted:
1.Setthethermostattothelowestsetting.
2.Turnoffallelectricalpowertothefurnace.
3.FollowtheOperatingInstructionsonthelabelattached
tothefurnace.
4.Setthethermostataboveroomtemperatureandverify
theOperatingSequence(page25).
5.After5minutesofoperation,setthethermostatbelow
roomtemperatureandverifysteps9-10oftheOperating
Sequence.
Verifying&AdjustingInputRate
The input rate must be veriedforeach installation to

1.Shutoffallothergasredappliances.
2.Startthefurnaceandrunitforatleast3minutes.
3.Measure the time (in seconds) required for the gas
metertocompleteonerevolution.
4.Convertthetimeperrevolutiontocubicfeetofgasper

b.)Remove the regulator capscrew from the INLET
sideoftheregulator.SeeFigure30,page30-gas

Verifying&AdjustingTemperatureRise
Afterinstallationofthefurnace,conrmthetemperature

For typical duct systems, the temperature rise will fall
within the limits specied on the rating plate with the
blowerspeedatthefactoryrecommendedsetting.Ifthe

NOTE: Lowering the blower speed will increase the

2.Consult Table 5 (page 24) and the rating plate for
the proper circulating air ow and temperature rise.
Example:
• Timefor1revolutionofagasmeterwitha1cubic
ftdial=40seconds.
• FromTable7read90cubicftgasperhr.
• Localheatingvalueofthegas(obtainedfromgas
supplier)=1,040Btupercubicft.
• Inputrate=1,040x90=93,600Btuh.
