• To achieve the best performance and minimize
equipment failure it is recommended that a yearly
maintenancecheckupbeperformed.Ata minimum,
thischeckshouldincludethefollowingitems:
Air Filter(s)
WARNING:
Neveroperate the furnace without a lter in
place.Dustandlint canbuildup oninternal
components, resulting in loss of efciency,
equipmentdamage,andpossiblere.
Anairlterissuppliedwiththefurnaceasshippedfrom
thefactory.Filtersshouldbechangedorcleanedmonthly
duringtheheatingseason.Newlybuiltorrenovatedhomes
mayrequiremorefrequentchanginguntiltheconstruction
dusthasminimized.
Filters designed to remove smaller particles such as
pollen,mayrequireadditionalmaintenance.
BlowerCompartment
Dirt and lint can create excessive loads on the motor
resultinginhigherthannormaloperatingtemperatures
andshortenedservicelife.It isrecommendedthatthe
blowercompartmentbecleanedofdirtorlintthatmay
haveaccumulatedinthecompartmentorontheblower
andmotoraspartoftheannualinspection.
CleaningofBurners
Iftheburnersmustbecleaned,followsteps1-12.See
Figure17(page27)forcomponentlocation.
1.Shutoffgassupplytothefurnaceatthemeterorata
manualvalveinthesupplypiping.
2.Turnoffallpowertothefurnaceandsetthethermostat
toit’slowestsetting.
3.Turn the gas control knob to the OFF position. See
Figure13(page18).
4.Disconnectthewiresfromthegasvalve,igniter,ame
sensor,andamerolloutswitch.
CAUTION:
To prevent damage to the unit or internal
components, it is recommended that two
wrenchesbeusedwhenlooseningortightening
nuts.Donotovertighten!
5.Usingtwowrenches,separatetheground-jointunion
inthegassupplypipingatthefurnace.
6.Remove the piping between the gas valve and the
ground-jointunion.(Ifapplicable).
7.Removetheburnerboxdoor(6screws).
8.Remove4screwssecuringthemanifoldassemblyto
theburnerbox.
9.Remove 4 screws from the corners of the box and
carefullyremovetheburnerassemblyfromthefurnace.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT damage the igniter while
removingtheburnerassembly.
10.Inspecttheburnersforaccumulateddustordebris.
If necessary carefully clean them with a soft wire
brushandavacuumcleaner.IMPORTANT:DO NOT
damage the igniter while cleaning the burner
assembly.
11.Replaceallthepartsinreverseorderthattheywere
removed.
12.Followthelightinginstructionsfoundonthefurnace
doortoreturnthefurnacetooperation.Verifyproper
operationafterservicing.
VentSystem
WARNING:
Holesintheventpipeorheatexchangercan
causecombustionproductstoenterthehome.
Replacetheventpipeorheatexchangerifleaks
are found. Failure to prevent the circulation
ofcombustionproductsintothelivingspace
can create potentially hazardous conditions
including carbon monoxide poisoning that
couldresultinpersonalinjuryordeath.
Checktheinletpipe(ifapplicable)andoutletpipetoensure
they are not blocked by debris. Any damaged section
ofventpipe mustbereplaced, and anyobstruction or
blockagemustberemovedpriortooperatingthefurnace.
HeatExchanger&BurnerMaintenance
Thefurnaceshouldoperateformanyyearswithoutsoot
buildupintheuepassageways,however,theue,vent
system,andburnersshouldbeinspectedandcleaned
(ifrequired)byaqualiedservicetechnicianannuallyto
ensure continued safe operation. Pay attention to any
deteriorationfromcorrosionorothersources.
Lubrication
Thebearingsintheblowermotorandinducerblowerused
inthesefurnacesarepre-lubricatedandsealedbythe
manufacturer.Nofurtheroilingofthebearingsisrequired
forthelifeofthemotor.
