8.1 Charger Electronic Unit
The Charger Electronic Unit is a smart battery charger, able to detect when a vehicle is present to initiate
charge and provide the correct charging profile to care for the batteries.
8.2 Charge Contacts
The charge and signal contacts pass charge current and act as a safety gate between the OTTO 100 self-
driving vehicle (SDV) and the charger. A communication signal must be applied to the charger signal
contacts. If the communication signal is not applied, the charge contacts are electrically disconnected from
the Charger Electronic Unit until a vehicle is detected.
The signal and charge contacts for charger system are located on the inside face of the Charge Dock towers
(see the following). The charge and signal contacts on the OTTO 100 SDV are located on each side and only
exposed when the lift is raised to the charging position.
See the operation and maintenance manual for the applicable OTTO 100 SDV model. These documents
are available on the OTTO Motors Support Center at help.ottomotors.com.
The charge contacts must make an electrical connection between the Charge Dock and the OTTO 100 self-
driving vehicle (SDV) to begin and complete a charge cycle.
If the charge contacts do not appear as shown in the following image, please contact OTTO Motors
Support. If the wear indicator is not present on one or more contacts, or the material on part of the
contact is worn to the level of the wear marker then the contract cartridge must be replaced. You can
contact OTTO Motors Support to obtain replacement parts.
