You can select the background that will be displayed as the
DVD-Video top menu after finalizing,
After performing steps 1 to 3 (4 70)
Press [A, y] to select "Top Menu Style" and
then press [ENTER].
Press [A, V, _1, I_] to select the background
and then press [ENTER].

You can select whether to show the top menu after finalizing.
After performing steps 1 to 3 (4 70)
Press [A, V] to select "Playback will start
with:" and then press [ENTER].
Press [&, T] to select "DVD's Top Menu" or
"First Title on DVD" and then press [ENTER].
DVD's Top Menu: The top menu appears first.
First Title on DVD: The disc content is played without displaying
the top menu.
Make selections from "Top Menu Style" and "Playback will start
with:" above before finalizing the disc.
After performing steps 1 to 3 (4 70)
Press [&, V] to select "Finalize" and then
press [ENTER].
Press [4, I_] to select "Yes" and then press
[ENTER].
Press [4, I_] to select "Start" and then press
[ENTER].
A message appears when finalizing is finished.
Note
oYou cannot cancel finalizing.
• Finalizing takes up to 15 minutes. (Finalizing may take up to
60 minutes with DVD-R DL and +R DL.)
• Do not disconnect the AC power supply cord while
finalizing. This will render the disc unusable.
Press [ENTER].
Note
When finalizing a high-speed recording compatible disc, it may take
longer than displayed on the confirmation screen (approximately
four times).
After finalizing
• [] _ ff=J_l_ The disc becomes play-only and you can
no longer record or edit.
• _ You can record and edit the disc after formatting
(4 71) although it becomes play-only after finalizing.
oWhen copying in high-speed, chapters will be replicated.
o[] _ _ Titles are divided into about 5-minute
(FJ_ll8-minute) chapters, if
- the titles were directly recorded to the disc.
- the titles were copied using any mode other than the
high-speed mode.
+ This time varies greatly depending on the condition and mode
of recording.
oThere is a pause of several seconds between titles and chapters
during play.
Note
Chapters on a finalized disc do not appear as thumbnails in the
disc's top menu.

oYou cannot finalize discs recorded on other manufacturer's
equipment.
• If you finalize discs recorded on Panasonic equipment other than
this unit, the background selected as "Top Menu Style" may not be
displayed.
• Discs finalized on this unit may not be playable on other players
due to the condition of the recording.

+RW discs contain no Top Menu data. Top Menu is a convenient
function. We recommend you create the menu before playing a
+RW disc on other equipment.

Press [&, V] to select "Create DVD Top Menu"
and then press [ENTER].
Press [41, I_] to select "Yes" and then press
[ENTER].
Press [41, I_] to select "Start" and then press
[ENTER].
Creating DVD Top Menu starts. You cannot cancel creating.
Creating DVD Top Menu can take a few minutes.
Press [ENTER].
• Recording or editing on the disc may delete the menu. In that case,
create the menu again.
oYou cannot use the title menu for playing on this unit.
