Disc and card management

1 While stopped
Press [FUNCTION MENU].
2 Select “Others”, then press [OK].
3 Select “DVD Management” or “Card
Management”, then press [OK].
[RAM] [-R] [-R]DL] [-RW‹V›] [+R] [+R]DL] [+RW]
After performing steps 1–3 (> above)
Select “Disc Name”, then press [OK].

≥The disc name is displayed in the DVD Management
window.
≥[-R] [-R]DL] [-RW‹V›] [+R] [+R]DL] With a finalised disc, the
name is displayed on the Top Menu.
≥[+RW] The disc name is displayed only if you play the disc
on other equipment after creating top menu.

≥ Do not perform this operation before copying HD Video (AVCHD format)
to DVD-R or DVD-R DL. (> 45)
[RAM]
After performing steps 1–3 (> above)
1 Select “Disc Protection”, then press [OK].
2 Select “Yes”, then press [OK].
To release the protection
Repeat steps 1 and 2.
≥The screen icon will be switched to “Off”.

≥ When using a cartridge disc, you can also set the protection of cartridge
(> 8, Cartridge-protection).
[RAM]
After performing steps 1–3 (> left)
1 Select “Delete all titles”, then press [OK].
2 Select “Yes”, then press [OK].
3 Select “Start”, then press [OK].
A message appears when finished.
4 Press [OK].

≥ Still picture data (JPEG) or computer data cannot be deleted.

[+R] [+R]DL] (New disc only)
[SD]
Formatting deletes all contents (including computer
data), and they cannot be restored. Check carefully
before proceeding. The contents are deleted when you
format a disc or card even if you have set protection.
After performing steps 1–3 (> left)
1 Select “Format Disc” or “Format Card”,
then press [OK].
2 Select “Yes”, then press [OK].
3 Select “Start”, then press [OK].
4 Press [OK].
[RAM]
To stop formatting
Press [RETURN ].
≥You can cancel formatting if it takes more than 2 minutes.
The disc must be reformatted if you do this.

≥ Formatting normally takes a few minutes; however, it may take up to a
maximum of 70 minutes ([RAM]).
≥ Do not disconnect the AC mains lead while formatting. This can
render the disc or the card unusable.
≥ When a disc or card has been formatted using this unit, it may not be
possible to use it on any other equipment.
≥ [-RW‹V›] [-RW‹VR›] You can format DVD-RW only as DVD-Video format on
this unit.
