Taking Pictures
You can choose settings appropriate for taking pictures of dark scenes,
such as nightscapes.
1 Press the four-way controller (3) in A mode.
The Capture Mode Palette appears.
2 Use the four-way controller (2345) to select A
(Night Scene), 4 (Digital SR (Blur Reduction)) or y
(Fireworks).
3 Press the 4 button.
The shooting mode is selected and the camera returns to capture status.
4 Press the shutter release button halfway.
The focus frame on the display turns green if the subject is in focus.
5 Press the shutter release button fully.
The picture is taken.

Use this mode when taking pictures of night views.

Use this mode to reduce blurring when taking pictures indoors or in low-light
conditions.

Use this mode to take spectacular pictures of fireworks.
• The shutter speed tends to be slower when taking pictures of dark
scenes.
• To prevent camera shake, use a tripod and/or the self-timer
function. (p.87)
•In 4 mode, the number of recorded pixels is fixed at f (2592
×1944).
•In 4 mode, the sensitivity is fixed at AUTO 6400 (50 to 6400).
•For y mode, the sensitivity is fixed at 50, the focus mode is s, and
the flash mode is a. Also, the shutter speed is fixed at 4 seconds and
the aperture is left open.
•In y mode, AE metering is set to multi-segment metering.
