PIP-Physical
Inspection
Before
beginning
the
PIP-Physical
Inspection,
be
sure
to
disconnect
the
С
ac
power
cord
from
the
ac
power
source.

Perform
a
complete
visual
inspection
of
the
LIFEPAK
9
defibrillator/monitor
and
shock
advisory
adapter.
e
Inspect
all
controls,
indicators,
and
displays
for
physical
deterioration
and
proper
operation.
e
Inspect
for
cracks,
dents,
loose
or
missing
hardware,
damaged
labels,
and
contamination
for
foreign
substances.
e
Inspect
the
power
cord
and
all
cables
and
accessories
for
damage,
cracks, breaks,
bent
or
broken
connector
pins,
or
other
signs
of
wear.
The
display
flow
diagram
in
Figure
3-1
shows
the
entire
sequence
of
CRT
screens
called
out
in
the
PIP.
Figure
3-1
also
defines
the
priority
of
the
audible
tones
in
the
procedure.
Priority
1:
A
440Hz
and
880Hz
tone
a
life-threatening
condition
is
imminent
and
immediate
action
by
the
operator
is
required.
Priority
2:
A
continuous
698Hz
tone
an
urgent
condition
that
requires
a
timely
operator
response
Priority
3:
Three
1046Hz
tone
bursts
a
status
change
or
abnormal
condition
exists.
PIP-Analyze
.
Install
the
adapter
into
the
LIFEPAK
9
defibrillator/monitor.

2.
Connect
the
defibrillation
cable
to
the
adapter
and
the
patient
simulator.
3.
Press
ON
to
apply
power
to
the
patient
simulator
and
set
to
NSR.
4.
Press
ON
to
apply
power
to
the
defibrillator/monitor
and
confirm
that
the
ON
LED
illuminates.
5.
Select
PADDLES
on
the
defibrillator
by
pressing
LEAD
SELECT.
6.
Press
the
adapter
ANALYZE
pushbutton
and
verify:
°
The
CRT
displays
200
JOULES
SELECTED
e
ANALYZING
NOW,
STEP
BACK
e
PADDLES
X
1.0
7.
Verify
the
SYNC
LED
is
not
on
and
a
Priority
3
tone
sounds.
8.
After
the
adapter
has
completed
analysis
(about
10sec),
the
CRT
displays
NO
SHOCK
ADVISED
and
three
tones
sound.
9.
After
analysis
has
timed
out
(about
20sec),
NO
SHOCK
ADVISED
is
no
longer
illuminated
and
the
CRT
screen
is
blank.
