6 DISINFECTION
The S3 medical diode laser is not supplied in sterilized condition. It should
be disinfected before use. The following disinfecting procedures are
recommended for the device and the attachments to the device.
Before using and between all uses of the device, disinfect the units surface of any
accumulation of dust or other contaminates. We recommend the use of an 75%
alcohol disinfectant and a soft cloth or lens paper.
Avoid spraying or splashing cleaning and disinfectant liquid into the
interior of the device. Spraying or splashing may allow liquids to penetrate
into the device.
Allow the alcohol to completely evaporate/volatize before using the
device. There is a risk the internal gas may be ignited.
The single use tips are disposable and must not be re-used. Tips must be
disposed of in a biohazard medical waste container.
The following disinfecting procedures are recommended for the following fixtures and
attachments to the device:
The fiber should be disinfected prior to the stripping procedure and before use. The
fiber should be thoroughly wiped with an 75% alcohol disinfectant.
Do not use the device until the solution or alcohol is completely
evaporated/volatized.
The hand piece that secures the working end of the fiber should be disinfected after
