a.
Remove the
cylinder
from its mounting
bracket
as
per paragraph
6-34.
b. To
disassemble
the cylinder,
first
remove
the piston
rod
assembly
by removing
the
snap ring
(11) from
the
annular slot
at the
rod end
of the cylinder.
Draw
the piston
rod
assembly
from the cylinder.
c.
The piston rod
assembly
may be disassembled
by
first removing
the small
snap ring
(2)
securing
the retainer
bushing
(3), spring
(4),
piston (6),
seal (7),
gland
(9), and,
if
desired,
the large return
spring (13).
d. Remove
the "0"
rings from
the piston
and gland.

INSPECTION

REPAIR

CYLINDER.
a.
Clean
the
cylinder
parts
with
a suitable
solvent
and
dry thoroughly.
b.
Inspect
the
interior
walls
of the
cylinder
for
scratches,
burrs,
corrosion,
etc.
c. Inspect
the general
condition
of
the fitting
threads
of the
cylinder.
d. Check
the
piston
for scratches,
burrs, corrosion,
etc.
e.
Repairs
to the
cylinder
are limited
to
polishing
out
small
scratches,
burrs,
etc.,
and
"0" rings.
