What to do if my Provision DVR has no lights on and won't boot up?
    • W
      wilsonronaldAug 21, 2025
If your Provision DVR shows no lights and doesn't boot, it could be due to a lack of power or ground signal. Check the fuses on the red battery power and black ground wires of the DVR power cable to ensure they are properly connected.

Why is my Provision 906M DVR powering on when the key is off and off when the key is on?
    • C
      candersonSep 3, 2025
If your Provision DVR powers on when the key is off and off when the key is on, the ignition signal is likely set improperly. DVRs are shipped with a high level (12-24VDC) ignition level setting, so if you are using a ground ignition, the ignition level must be changed in the interface.

What to do if Provision 906M will not load the Solid-State Drive (SSD)?
    • J
      Joseph ChangSep 1, 2025
If your Provision DVR isn't loading the Solid-State Drive (SSD), first, ensure the SSD is fully inserted and clicked into the drive tray, making sure it's flush with the DVR faceplate (screws are recommended but not required). Next, ensure the SD card is formatted to the FAT32 file system. If the SSD Card is corrupted, reformat the SSD card to FAT32, contact tech support if needed.

What to do if my Provision 906M will not load the SD Card?
    • R
      Ronald RodriguezAug 31, 2025
If your Provision DVR isn't loading the SD card, first check that the SD card is fully inserted and clicked into the DVR, making sure it's flush with the faceplate. Next, ensure the SD card isn't locked in write-protected mode by removing the card and ensuring the switch on the card is up towards the contacts. Also, make sure the SD card is a PRO-VISION SD card and is formatted to the FAT32 file system. If the SD card is corrupted, reformat it to FAT32, and contact tech support if needed. Finally, if the SD Card is physically damaged, contact sales to purchase a replacement.

Why is my Provision 906M recording some cameras but not all?
    • M
      Mark GardnerAug 29, 2025
If your Provision DVR is recording some cameras but not others, the cameras that aren't recording might not be set to record in the menu. Go to the Recording settings page of the web interface and ensure that the recording is set to Auto for each camera. Also, a camera might not be working properly or could be damaged; test this by swapping the camera to another input on the DVR unit. A damaged or broken cable could also be the cause; test the cable by bypassing it with another cable or connecting the camera directly to the DVR, and replace the cable if damaged. Finally, if multiple cables are used, ensure that at least one cable is a 30 ft. Repeater cable (with an inline booster) and that the repeater is connected to the DVR, as multiple 20 ft. cables cannot be connected together.

How to fix Provision DVR filling up with video and no longer recording?
    • J
      jonesjamesAug 28, 2025
If your Provision DVR is filling up with video and stops recording (possibly beeping), it could be due to the overwrite feature not being enabled. Go to the web interface under Storage and ensure the “Overwrite” box is checked. If the video is all in the 'Alarm' folder, something might be triggering the recording too often. Ensure that triggers are set to record only occasional events. Check the Triggers, G-Force, and GPS pages to uncheck the camera recording boxes for triggers where recording isn't necessary.

What to do if Provision DVR restarts or reboots on its own?
    • E
      Erin BellAug 27, 2025
If your Provision DVR is restarting or rebooting unexpectedly, a potential cause is that the SD card or SSD is not able to be loaded by DVR. See the "DVR is not loading SD card/SSD" section for guidance. Alternatively, there might be a problem with a camera, cable, or accessory. Disconnect each component one at a time to isolate the cause, and review the log text file(s) on the SD card to determine what is causing the issue. If the issue persists, there could be a software problem with the DVR unit; in this case, contact technical support and have the log text file(s) from the SD card available.

Why does my Provision 906M DVR have lights on but will not boot and begin recording?
    • J
      Joel SmithAug 25, 2025
If your Provision DVR has power but isn't booting up and recording, there could be a few reasons. First, the DVR might not be receiving an ignition signal; check the green ignition wire on the DVR power cable to ensure it's connected when the vehicle key is ON. Second, the ignition signal might be set improperly; DVRs are shipped with a high-level ignition setting, so if you're using a ground ignition, you'll need to change the ignition level in the interface. Finally, there might be an excessive current draw or power short on a camera, cable, or accessory; disconnect each item one at a time to see if it resolves the issue.

How to fix Provision 906M not recording at all?
    • R
      Robert PetersAug 23, 2025
If your Provision DVR isn't recording, it might be due to a couple of reasons. First, the SD card or SSD might not be loading correctly, refer to the section about SD card/SSD loading issues. Second, the cameras might not be set to record; check the recording settings in the web interface and ensure each camera is set to 'Auto'. Lastly, the SD/SSD might be full; free up space by enabling Overwrite or deleting alarm videos.
