4. Reinstall and tighten the plug.
Inspecting Components
Before reinstalling the gearbox, inspect the plastic gearbox seal and drive dog for
damage. Replace, if damaged.
Changing Oil
Flush and replace using SAE 80W90 gear oil in the reservoir for all working conditions.
Gearbox oil capacity is 25.5 oz (0.75 L).
Gearbox Reinstallation
1. As shown in Figure 5.23:
a. Lift the gearbox and insert the drive dog end into the bottom of the GrainVac body.
While supporting the gearbox, reinstall the four metric flange bolts (M10 x 30 mm)
holding the top of the gearbox on the vac body panel.
b. Use a pry bar to guide the gearbox up into the bottom of the GrainVac body until
the plastic gearbox seal is tight. While holding the pry bar, tighten the four top
gearbox bolts.
c. Push the gearbox gusset bracket up against the bottom of the gearbox and
reinstall the two metric flange bolts (M10 x 30 mm).
d. Tighten the two 7/16” carriage bolts and nylock nuts holding the gearbox gusset
bracket onto the vac body panel.
2. Reinstall the drive chain and reset the chain idler tightener.
3. Reinstall the chain guard.
