Fault-finding
Symptom Cause Action
Machine stops unexpectedly
during a probing cycle.
Optical communication
obstructed.
Interface / receiver / machine
fault.
Dead batteries.
Excessive machine vibration
causing a false probe trigger.
Probe unable to nd target
surface.
Adjacent probe.
Stylus not given sufcient time to
settle from a rapid deceleration.
Transmission beam obstructed.
Check interface / receiver and
remove obstruction.
Refer to interface / receiver /
machine user's guide.
Change batteries.
Enable enhanced trigger lter.
Check that part is correctly
positioned and that stylus has
not broken.
Recongure adjacent probe to
low power mode and reduce
range of receiver.
Add a short dwell before the
probing move (length of dwell
will depend on stylus length and
rate of deceleration). Maximum
dwell is 1 second.
Check that the OMP400 and
receiver windows are clean, and
remove any obstruction.
Probe crashes. Inspection probe using tool
setting probe signals.
Workpiece obstructing probe
path.
Adjacent probe.
Probe length offset missing.
When two systems are active,
isolate tool setting probe.
Review probing software.
Recongure adjacent probe to
low power mode and reduce
range of receiver.
Review probing software.
