Introduction
Aims of the guide
• Provide the reader with the skills and condence necessary to perform
measurements using the XL laser system�
• Highlight the factors affecting measurements and methods of reducing/
eliminating them�
• Dene the best practices for each measurement type.
• This guide will enable the user to perform a range of measurements,
and capture measurement data for analysis�
Points to note
• The examples shown assume that the beam splitter with retroreector
attached (also known as an interferometer) is the stationary optic and the
retroreector is the moving optic.
• Procedures should be adapted when used in other congurations.
• This guide is intended to be used in conjunction with the CARTO
Capture, Explore and Compensate software user guides�
