4.4 Battery
Maintenance
WARNING: To avoid the risk of fire, use only Respironics-approved batteries. All battery
connectors are keyed to ensure proper connection. Do not attempt to connect
a battery incorrectly.
NOTE: Recharge the battery if a Low Battery or Battery Depleted alarm occurs
during a pre-operational check.
NOTE: If a Batt. Charge Failure alarm occurs or the battery does not begin to
charge after 1 hours, the battery may be fully depleted: see section 4.4.4.
NOTE: Battery alarms sound near the end of the battery test. Gas delivery
continues until the battery is depleted.
Test the battery once per month. A fully charged battery is designed to support
ventilation for 45 minutes at default settings, and should be replaced if it
cannot.
4.4.1 Battery Operating Time
The length of time the ventilator can operate on internal battery power
depends primarily on ventilator CPAP/IPAP settings (Table 4-2).
WARNING: When running on battery, the high flows that occur during a patient
disconnect can deplete the battery in 2 minutes. Connect AC power
immediately if the Battery Depleted alarm occurs to avoid total loss of power.
