2-1 Check the paper to make sure that it is not
longer than 357 mm (14 in.); use only paper
that is shorter than 356 mm (14 in.).
Specifications Use only paper in the range 216 x 356 mm (8.5 x
14 in.)
2-2 Check to see if paper printed on one side is
being used. Paper printed on one side has a
tendency to double-feed. If the double-
feeding
persists, replace with other paper.
Ink between sheets of used paper causes friction
and interferes with paper feed and transport.
Switch to other paper.
2-3 Check the paper and if it is coated, make sure
it meets specifications for coated paper.
Replace with paper that is approved for use
with this printer.
Some types of coated paper create more friction
between sheets than others.
Use only approved paper, or use Tray 1.

Curl can develop if paper remains unused and
loaded in the paper cassette for a long period.
Remove the curled or wrinkled paper.
Changes in the room temperature can affect paper
and can cause more friction between sheets and
interfere with separation.
Remove the curled or wrinkled paper.
(3) ST Descriptions
3-1 Operation impaired by other causes. 1. Friction separation pad is dirty.
2. Paper feed clutch operating incorrectly.
3. Harness disconnected, damaged.
4. Sensor damage (trailing edge sensor).
5. Control board malfunction.
6. DC relay board abnormal.
7. Drive gears damaged.
1. Clean the friction separation pad
(ST).
2. Replace the paper feed clutch (NRC).
3. Check harness, replace (NRC).
4. Replace trailing edge sensor (ST),
replace the registration sensor
(NRC).
5. Replace control board (NRC).
6. Replace DC relay board (NRC).
7. Replace drive gears (NRC).

Non-transport jam (manual)
When the paper was feed from the bypass tray,
the registration sensor detected the leading edge,
but the bypass set sensor did not detect the
trailing edge because the paper stopped in the
paper path.
The paper did not feed from the bypass tray; so
do the procedures below. Also, check inside the
printer and the bypass tray for paper. If you find
paper inside the printer or in the tray, remove it,
and then press the [Paper Feed] key.
1. Paper that does not meet specifications was
used.
2. Damage.
1. Use only paper that meets specifications
(including restrictions).
2. Repair (ST) or replace (NRC).
(1) Check the type and condition of the paper,
then do the following procedures.
