SERVICE CENTER CALL RESPONSE PROBABLE CAUSE OPERATOR ACTION
SERVICE TECHNICIAN (ST) and/or
NATIONAL RECLAMATION CENTER
(NRC) ACTION
(1) Use a test chart with many dot images to
confirm the operation of duplex printing, move
the paper selector to the Envelope position,
and then set the print job for auto duplex
compression (92% with centering).
The paper has been curled and wrinkled by the
moisture of the ink, causing the paper to hang up
on the carriage.
Move the paper selector to the Envelope position,
and then select auto compression (92% with
centering).
(2) Check the type and condition of the paper,
then do the following procedures.
Use only paper that meets specifications
(including restrictions).
2-1 Do not use curled (less than 2 mm) or
wrinkled paper, especially with used paper. If
the curl or wrinkling cannot be removed before
printing, replace with new paper.
Curled or wrinkled paper jammed. Try to flatten curls, wrinkles, or replace paper.
2-2 Check the paper and if it is coated, make sure
it meets specifications for coated paper. Use
only coated paper that is recommended for
use with this printer.
Paper hanging up on the carrier due to insufficient
attraction between the paper and the transport belt.
Switch to recommended paper.

Curl can develop if paper remains unused and
loaded in the paper cassette for a long period.
Remove the curled or wrinkled paper.
Curled or wrinkled paper has jammed. Remove the curled or wrinkled paper.

If printing on envelopes, use a pen or other flat
object to flatten the edges of the envelopes
before loading. Also, make sure the envelopes
are approved for use with this printer.
The envelopes are floating off the belt and hanging
up on the carrier.
Use only approved envelopes and flatten their
edges before loading.
(3) Remove paper and make sure that the paper
is in good condition (does not fall into the
category of paper not recommended for the
printer) and load it again.
Paper cassette set incorrectly. Reset the paper in the tray.
3-1 Check the paper cassette for paper with its
edges hung up on the bottom plate. Remove
the paper and reload the cassette.
Paper edges hanging up. Align the edges of the stack.
4 ST Descriptions
4-1 Operation impaired by other causes. 1. Encoder sheet dirty.
2. Carriage shaft, bushings not clean.
3. Carriage pressure roller of the timing belt is not
clean.
4. Carriage encoder sensor is damaged.
5. Harness disconnected, damaged.
6. Control board malfunction.
7. DC relay board abnormal.
8. High voltage PP damaged.
9. Charge roller is dirty, scarred, or damaged.
1. Clean the encoder sheet (ST).
2. Clean the carriage shaft, bushings
(ST).
3. Clean or replace the pressure roller
of the carriage drive belt (ST).
4. Replace the carriage encoder sensor
(NRC).
5. Check harness, replace (NRC).
6. Replace control board (NRC).
7. Replace DC relay board (NRC).
8. Replace the high voltage PP (NRC).
9. Clean the charge roller (ST) or
replace it (NRC).
