8.2.1 ERR-999
SERVICE CENTER CALL RESPONSE PROBABLE CAUSE OPERATOR ACTION
SERVICE TECHNICIAN (ST) and/or
NATIONAL RECLAMATION CENTER
(NRC) ACTION
The maintenance motor HP sensor failed to
detect the maintenance motor at the home
position. Switch the printer off and on. If the SC
error occurs again, the printer requires servicing.
The maintenance motor (a stepper motor) is not at
its home position.
Damaged.
Use the scroll bar on the Status Monitor screen to
scroll down and confirm the SC number.
Switch the printer off/on.
(1) On the Status Monitor screen, use the vertical
scroll bar to scroll down and confirm the
number of the SC code.
Use the scroll bar on the Status Monitor screen to
scroll down and confirm the SC number.
(2) Switch the printer off, and then switch it on
again.
Switch the printer off/on.
(3) ST Descriptions
3-1 Operation impaired by other causes.
1. Maintenance HP sensor defective.
2. Maintenance unit defective.
3. FFC disconnected, damaged.
4. Maintenance unit fouled with foreign objects,
such as paper scraps, etc.
1. Replace the maintenance HP sensor
(ST, SC).
2. Replace the maintenance unit. (ST,
SC).
3. Reconnect or replace FFC (NRC).
4. Clean the maintenance unit (ST).

(NRC) ACTION
Printer error. Switch the printer off, then switch it on again.
If the error occurs again, call for service.
Horizontal encoder functioning abnormally.
Switch the printer off and on. If the SC error
occurs again, the printer requires servicing.
Carriage is abnormal, paper jam, load on carriage
or guide abnormal, printer operates at half speed.
Foreign matter, paper scraps, etc. are interfering.
Damage.
Use the scroll bar on the Status Monitor screen to
scroll down and confirm the SC number.
Switch the printer off/on.
Remove foreign matter, paper scraps, etc.
(1) On the Status Monitor screen, use the vertical
scroll bar to scroll down and confirm the
number of the SC code.

(2) Switch the printer off, and then switch it on
again.
Switch the printer off/on.
(3) Open the top cover, and check the transport
belt for dirt, paper scraps, etc.
Foreign matter, paper scraps, etc. are interfering. Open the top cover, and check the transport belt
for dirt, paper scraps, etc.
1. Remove any foreign matter from inside the
printer.
2. Remove any paper scraps from inside the
printer.
1. Check inside the printer for foreign
matter. (ST), (NRC)

scraps. (ST), (NRC)
