8 Operational problems
8.1 Switching off device
The user must not switch off the Biowelder
®
TC device at any time. Make
sure that the device remains switched on during an on-going process.
Before the user switches off the device, the on-going process must be
aborted via the operator control. For more about this, see Chapter 7.2.1
Critical section
8.2 Foreign objects in the device
The Biowelder
®
TC is a fully automated device with several
electromechanical drives which sometimes generate very high forces.
It is imperative that you ensure that no foreign objects accidentally
reach the mechanical parts. This can lead to a blockage or even a defect
in the device.
8.3 Wrong type of tube inserted
The type of tube installed is not automatically recognized by the device and
must be set through the operator control. Only the Supervisor user group
can change the type of tube. Therefore, there is always the possibility that a
user could insert the wrong type of tube.
The consequence of this can be that the welding quality is insufficient or the
welding is aborted.
Make sure that you only insert the type of tube displayed on the operator
 control into the tube holder.
There are special welding parameters for pre-treated tubes
(irradiated, autoclaved, etc.).
If the wrong type of tube is chosen, a failure may occur.
8.4 Wrong tube dimension in the tube holder
The tube dimensions are not automatically recognized by the device.
Therefore, there is always the possibility that a user could insert a tube with
the wrong dimensions.
The consequence of this can be that the welding quality is insufficient or the
welding is aborted.
The tube holders are labelled with the inside and outside diameter of the
tube dimension. Only tube types with identical dimensions must be
inserted. Dimensions are indicated in inches.
8.5 Memory card
The SD memory card is not recognized by the device. Possible causes:
The card is defective, or was not FAT formatted.
