Usage Features
The manual emphasizes several key usage features:
- Adjustable Swivel Angle: The OSE units allow for adjustment of the swivel angle, including end positions (0°/180°) and intermediate positions (90°). Specific procedures are provided for OSE 14, OSE 22-57, and OSE 63.
- Pneumatic Connections: The product offers various pneumatic connection options, including hose connections and hose-free direct connections, to suit different application requirements. One-way-restrictors are recommended for connection.
- Sensor Integration: The OSE units are equipped for integrating sensors (magnetic or inductive proximity switches) to monitor positions. Instructions are provided for assembling and adjusting these sensors for different OSE sizes and variants.
- Electrical Feed-Through (EDF): For sizes 22-57, an electric feed-through can be installed in the Swivel Unit, allowing for electrical connections through the rotating part. Detailed instructions are provided for installation, including routing the cable spiral and securing connections.
- Safety Features: The manual highlights the importance of observing safety distances, deactivating safety devices, and securing against inadvertent reactivation of energy supply. It also stresses the need for appropriate protective measures to secure danger zones and prevent access to movement ranges during operation.
Maintenance Features
The manual outlines essential maintenance procedures to ensure the longevity and safe operation of the OSE Swivel Unit:
- Maintenance and Lubrication Intervals: A CAUTION is given regarding material damage due to hardening lubricants, recommending reduction of lubricant intervals accordingly. The interval for the swivel unit is 2 million cycles, and for EDF is 2 million cycles.
- Lubricants/Lubrication Points: SCHUNK recommends specific lubricants for different components:
- The teeth and the pinion: Toothgood 1
- All seals: Rivolta F.L.G. GT-2
- Metallic sliding surfaces: Renolit HLT 2
- During maintenance, all greased areas should be treated with lubricant and wiped with a lint-free cloth.
- Assembly of Seals and Piston: Detailed instructions and diagrams are provided for assembling seals and pistons for OSE 34-40 and OSE 57, including mounting the seal, expansion sleeve, sealing, assembly taper, piston, and calibration sleeve.
- Disassembly of Product: Step-by-step instructions are given for disassembling the product for OSE 14, OSE 22-45, OSE 57, and OSE 63. This includes removing air connections, covers, circlips, pistons, and shock absorbers. Special notes are provided for variants with integrated air passage.
- Servicing and Assembling the Product: General maintenance guidelines include cleaning all parts thoroughly, checking for damage and wear, replacing worn parts/seals, and treating all greased areas with lubricant. It is also advised to assemble the product in the opposite order of disassembly, ensuring no O-rings are damaged and securing all screws and nuts with Loctite no. 243, tightening to the appropriate torque.
